Nice work. These charts are easy to understand and decipher with the additional material provided. Commented By: carmstrong@jou.ufl.edu (368 - days ago), Page: Graphics - Families and Technology
Remember with charts and visualization that the goal is to make these topics more understandable to readers/viewers. I'm not sure that these charts really add to understanding. Dataset 1 is a clever design, but I don't entirely understand the numbers. I would guess that they are percentages, but it's not clear. Chart 2 above is too busy and hard to read. Remember the goal of the chart and that'll help you design the best presentation method. Commented By: carmstrong@jou.ufl.edu (368 - days ago), Page: Graphics - Bullying
Love the idea of wages and fatherhood as a topic, but these charts are a little difficult to link to the topic. For example, with the top chart, how does that relate to fatherhood, as it's just mean wages by race? It doesn't really add to understanding the issue. I'm also a little concerned about the labels in chart 2, as race hours worked is a little confusing. Commented By: carmstrong@jou.ufl.edu (368 - days ago), Page: Graphics - Wages and Fatherhood
Line graph was a good choice for these data. However, it's not clear how many patients are involved in this case. Providing a bit more info with the chart will make it clearer and more user-friendly. Commented By: carmstrong@jou.ufl.edu (368 - days ago), Page: Graphics - Acupuncture and Arthritis
Question: All of your research is about how same-sex couples adopt or parent. How about rounding it out by looking at how more mainstream (read: traditional) adopting/parenting sites approach this topic. For example, Parenting magazine? It would make a nice comparison. I like the graphic and the links/info contained about the actual source, but the colors are hard to distinguish. The two shades of purple are too close together.
